do I need medication for urine leakage or just exercises?
When I need to urinate I leak urine. I have also noticed I cannot hold my urine very long.
Before i answer, may i know how old are you? If you’re young, urine leakage problem is not a normal problem and i suggest you to seek a urologist to rule out the cause. It is due to the weakened bladder muscles that causing the low retention of urine and leaking. The cause has to be ruled out. It’s accompanied by symptoms like leaking even when laughing and coughing. Do you have that? It appears to be rather normal as a person is aging, but still there are remedies to it. There is an exercise which is called the Kegel exercise which is an active rehabilitation of the pelvic-floor muscles which leads to cure in 50-80% of patients with stress incontinence (urine leaking). It is done by holding and relaxing your vaginal muscles (internally), repeat it several times to a minute. It can be done as frequent as you want with no time limit, everywhere you go without being noticed and sooner or later the muscles will be strengthen. It helps after childbirth, and after sex as well to strengthen the vaginal muscles. Hope this helps. If it still persists, seek a urologist. Have your bladder scanned to rule out if there’s any suspicious growth in it. Good luck!
