RAMPANT DIABETES-HELP!?
Just any general advice/tips welcome.
My Mother went undiagnosed for several years with Type-2 Diabetes.
As a result she suffers various pains, problems with mobility and incontinence.
Recently, she was told by the Dr that her blood sugar level was over 23 (Incredible, I know) and the Dr said there was nothing she could do for her as it was resisting treatment.
Although she now injects and is now using Metformin she is still unwell.
Is there anything non-harmful, supplements etc, anyone can recommend to help improve her health?
I just feel I should be doing something.
She is 57 & overweight but in generally good health bar this.

It sounds like your mother needs to see a diabetes specialist and maybe a dietitian to help her control her diabetes. Blood sugars of 23 are way to high and could lead to ketoacidosis, a very serious condition. Did her doctor check her urine for ketones (a chemical produced when the body is not getting enough insulin) or has your Mum got ketostix to check herself. Does she test her own blood sugars? Monitors are quite cheap if her GP won’t prescribe one, I know a lot won’t with type 2. I really think your Mum needs a second opinion. Hope this helps x
