Help! my shingles is in it’s 20th day!?
The rash is better, but the pain on my forehead and temple comes and goes–very uncomfortable. The pain clinic doctor put me on 10 mg. Amitriptyline at bedtime 2 days ago, and both nights I’ve wakened with terrible itching around my eye and on my head and scalp. My icebag is my source of pain relief and believe me the itching is painful! This morning the itching is ‘hanging on’ and I have moments of really bad itching and then it gets better, I’ve had to use ice once. I just took Tylenol and 1/2 a Xanax (5 mg.). It’s better at the moment. Could this be a side effect of the new medication? If so, why would I just itch where the shingles has attacked and not all over? It’s on the right side of my face. I take Lyrica too. I am better except for this ongoing pain and now the itching. Any suggestions or comments–please!! thanks
