Recovery after herniated disk surgery question…?
A year ago I had an injury and ruptured a disk. I went 11 months without treatment, and finally could not walk anymore. My legs would no longer support me. I had an operation then, and the ruptured disk had actually had part of it break off and imbed in my spinal cord, which had to be pried out. I am in recovery now. I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar injury and operation, because whenever I try to stand straight, it is not long before I break out in a cold sweat from the effort and sometimes get dizzy. It’s been hard getting answers on this particular set of symptoms.
Do you break into the cold sweat and get dizzy because of pain? This is what it sounds like to me, and if so you need to be on more pain meds. The body has a natural response to too much pain – it makes you pass out, and this is what sounds like is happening to you – or the beginning stages anyway. With physiotherapy and time you will get better (maybe not totally), but in the mean time you need to be able to cope with normal activities of daily living – so you need pain medication that works to make the pain bearable. Go speak some more with your doctor.
good luck
