Relief for back pain from lifting?
I helped my husband move some of our furniture back yesterday…we had moved some pieces into the middle of the house because of the hurricane….and now I am having severe, low back pain. I have never had pain like this in my back, so I am not sure what to do…exercise or medication or both? Any suggestions? I know it is from the lifting, because I had no pain before this excursion. Thanks.
It sounds like you strained the muscles/ligaments in you back from lifting, (using muscles improperly when lifting) or putting a strain on muscles you don’t normally use.
If you are able, take an anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen, etc.) and try heat to the area, alternating with ice packs and see which makes your back feel better.
Heat for 15-20 mins. then a few hours later use ice for 10-15 mins. along with the anti-inflammatory. If it doesn’t improve or gets worse, definitely see your dr. or go to a med center.
