Question about Midwives and pain control?
is it possible to get an epidural while under the care of a midwive…or will most anesthesiologists not do one when the primary caregiver is a midwife?
Midwives do not work under a doctor where I live…they are autonomous unless there are complications.
i asked my midwife about this while in labour, as you do LOL!!
she said she herself cannot do it but she would get the anesthesiologist to administer it, but it could take a while to get hold of him… i didn’t end up having it and am so glad i toughed it out as i wanted to do it all natural in the first instant.
i would double check with your doctor, midwife and still ask when you go to delivery, as i was in labour in the wee hours of the morning, getting hold of an anesthesiologist was not plain sailing.
