How to prevent back/neck/shoulder pain and aches from stress?
Whenever I’m doing homework, or in a stressful situation (like school, or thinking about school) I get serious neck and shoulder pain.
I sit straight, with my shoulders back, and I’ve tried stretching every 20 odd minutes, but it doesn’t seem to help..
Any ideas on how to prevent it, or to help it?
I generally take a really hot bath to relax the muscles, but lately I haven’t got time
to spend 30 minutes a day in a tub, when I’m falling behind in studies.

You are very coy aren’t you. The answer lies in two separate muscle groups, the lattissimi dorsi and the sternocleidomastoids.Tension or stress causes the afferent muscle fibers to abduct(stretch),and adduct(release tension or snap back). When posture is exacerbated by stressors the muscle fibers from the aforementioned muscle groups can become inflamed,leaving the scenario of just what you have explained. I wouldn’t prescribe medications like cyclobenzoprine as they are to sedative. I think the the most encouraging plan of action is massage therapy, in your case/ An over the counter noninflammatory such as Motrin or Aleve would help reduce inflammation, in moderation. Finding ways to taking time out for yourself every day has to be #1 on your agenda, you need this time to heal physically and emotionally. Everything I have stated would be to no avail if you can’t find the time for yourself, you’re very bright I am confident that you can ascertain this. Entertain yourself with the thought of feeling goood. I’ll check up on you during my next rounds.
