Smoke induced Migraine Relief?
Here’s the problem: My dad smokes almost constantly; he’s almost a chain smoker. So whenever we go on a family vacation he smokes in the car the entire way there.
For some reason, the smell of smoke gives me a migraine, always has and always will. This makes me irritable which just makes the headache worse. Around and around it goes.
So, is there anything I can do to prevent the headache? Besides not riding in the same car with him? I’ve heard that certain smells may prevent a migraine while others will just enhance it. Any suggestions?
if smells are the trigger for your migraine best thing to do is avoid them. if the pain hurts that bad if i were u i would say to my dad stop smoking because you don’t know how bad these headaches feel go get a hammer and wack your head that’s about the same pain that im in. that should make him stop smoking in front of you. besides avoiding it there not much u can do. unless just before the journey like half hour take a paracetamol to not bring on a migraine also if you get them quite frequently i suggest u talk to ur gp and ask them about long term medication ie, pixotefen or propranolol. only go see ur doctor if they are frequent but best thing u can do is avoid the smell.
