Pain in leg after total hip replacement?
I had THR 11 months ago. 3 months after surgery there was aparantly a movement (twisting?) that has since caused me pain at random times in leg. Bone Scan results show possible fracture or loosening of lower end of prothesis. My doctor stated that the scan was not unusually “hot”. Pain is somewhat dull, intermittent and definitely when I release weight off of leg as opposed to putting weight on it. When I exercise on eliptical, there is zero pain. Certainly don’t want revision.
Has anyone had similar experiences and what was the treatment?
A family member had an ankle replacement, and the bone cracked at the site of the prosthetic joint, and two more surgeries were required. (Once, the surgeons decided they had the wrong size in there!) If it’s hurting you, I’d seek remedy from the same or possibly another specialist, rather than letting it ride.
