What should you do if you are beginning to dislike your family?
Im currently a junior biology major in school. Going to school fulltime and working is extremely hard but im doing pretty good at it. I avoid going home now because my parent’s fighting has gotten a whole lot worse and my mom is considering getting a divorce. Ever since I can remember, our family has never had enough to get by. I remember always having to struggle for everything when we were younger and we are still struggling now. Now that I am a little older its even more difficult and I can’t afford to take care of myself and be a student at the same time. I aspire to attend chiropractic school next year and Im skeptical about it because i know that I need a job now where i can support myself. Im starting to hate and despise my parents because I feel that they are big failures. I always wonder why they had 3 children if they can’t afford them. What should I do because I feel really bad for feeling this way. Sometimes I wish that I was born into another family.
Try not to be to harsh on you parents. Even with all their struggles and faults, (and believe me, all parents fall short of perfection), I would bet my life that they love you very much. I would suggest to you is to stay strong and try to find as much financial assistance as you can in order to stay in school. Look into grants, find out what scholarships you qualify for, loans, etc. The fact that you are a struggling student can be stressful and stress tends to bore negative feelings sometimes. In this instance, that negativity is directed toward your parents. Like I said, just stay strong, keep moving foward and don’t let you parents problems be your own.
