Treatment for chronic H/A pain?
I am asking about pain clinics. How do they treat you and do they ask your history? As usual a person needs help for pain so do they give a person as difficult time as the emergency rooms do? My pain management doctor says some hospitals have signs up as”Not treating chronic pain” What happened to the medical oath that they supposedly took, I just donot understand. I have medication but sometimes It breaks through and the pain is intolerable. Thank you.
i assume you mean headache pain? i would speak to a dr about preventative medications. i have been on them for the better part of 9 years and it made life ALOT more bearable. i can now function as a normal adult. there are also better meds for stopping a migraine. i have been to a chronic pain clinic for lower back pain. yes they take a detailed history. they will examine you and possibly take xrays or scans. in my experience you need a referral from a dr to a pain clinic, you dont just walk in or make an appt. i went from my general dr, to a neurologist, to another neurologist (at a medical college) and he then referred me to the pain clinic. pain clinics are accustomed to dealing with people and chronic pain. they are usually not as assuming as reguler ER docs. if you are truely in pain, they will know and will not assume you are there “just for pills”. there are better treatments available for migraines.
