What pay rate should I ask for?
I am a massage therapist in a small town in Ohio. I’ve been licensed for a year. I have been hired to do massages at a chiropractic office. He wants me to let him know what kind of pay rate to ask for. I have no idea! If you can help, here are some details…
I’ve only worked for myself, so I don’t know what rate I should ask for being someone’s employee. I’ll be working in a low-income town. I’m providing my own table & supplies, & laundering my own sheets at my home. I’ll be doing therapeutic work. What rate should I ask for?
Listen, I am a Chiropractor in a small town in OH. You need more information. You need to find out what he will be using your services for…duh massage I know, but does he do a lot of workmans cop, personal injury, insurance, or is it mostly cash. The reason I ask is the BWC(bureau of workmans comp) pays about 34$/15 min. PI, about the same, and general ins, WAY less. If he is primarily cash, expect 1$/minute. Are you going to be an employee or independant? If independant, ask for 50% of everything he collects off of your services. He may offer to pay you by the unit 7.50-8.00/unit thats about 20$/hour if you are busy. If he wants to pay you hourly, look at 20-25/hour, BUT if you are being paid hourly, He will probably expect you to do other jobs when you are not massaging ie emptying trash, calling inactive patients etc. It really is a mine field out there. Hope this helps. By the way, if you tell him 75$/hr on the phone he will hang up. He probably doesn’t make that much/hr
