I need help reading my cervical spine MRI?
Can someone please interpret my MRI results and possible treatments?
Impression:
At c/5 c/6 mild central narrowing with mild ventral cord countouring
Findings:
c3/4 mild posterior ridging and uncinate spurring. No significant central canal foraminal compromise.
c4/5 mild posterior ridging
c5/6 Mild posteriorridging with broad central
disc protrusion. This produces mild central canal stenosis. Mild foraminal narrowing. Minimal ventral cord contouring
c6/7 mild posterior ridging and uncinate spurring. Mild left foraminal narrowing. no central canal stenosis
My doctor has recommended an epidural, but I want to make sure I understand what is EXACTLY going on and other possible treatments. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Your doctor is talking about an ESI, epidural steroid injection, done in your spine. I have had three. One lessened the pain for three months, and the other two did nothing for me. They were extremely expensive, no guarantee on results.
Everyone responds differently. In actuality, all the pain injection does is mask the problem. The problem is still there when the steroid injection wears off.
I know of one case where it lasted a year for the patient. Maybe yours will last that long, or longer.
One of my biggest complaints was how the itemized bill was SO WRONG! There were charges on there for things that were NOT done the day of the test, like the EKG they said was done…NOT….It’s been quite a long time since I had it done, and reviewed my bill, but there were several charges on it that were NOT done. Please be sure to check your bill.
As I said, results vary. Perhaps you will be one of the ones who have good results. Just remember that the injection is not a repair, just a temporary fix. You may ask why I went ahead and had three. The pain was, and still is, so intense that I was desperate to get relief, and kept hoping, “Maybe the next one will work better.” Today I rely on pain medication and anti-inflammatories to help with the pain.
