what antibiotics are used for bladder infections treatment?
Medications to treat a UTI include
Sulfonamides (such as Bactrim or Septra)
Trimethoprim (such as Trimpex or Proloprim)
Fluoroquinolones (such as Cipro or Floxin)
Cephalosporins (such as Ceclor or Duricef)
Nitrofurantoin (such as Macrobid or Macrodantin)
Penicillins (such as Augmentin)
Tetracycline (such as Tetracyn or Vibramycin)
Fosfomycin (such as Monurol)
Phenazopyridine may be used to treat burning that accompanies a UTI. There is no over the counter type medication to stop a UTI. THere is AZO which can be used for the pain, but this should not be used for more than 2 days.
