How to Relief Eye Strain
Practice relaxation. Ease muscle tension with this relaxation exercise: Place your elbows on your desk, palms facing up; let your weight fall forward and your head fall into your hands; position your head so that your eyebrows rest on the base of your palms, with your fingers extended toward your forehead; close your eyes and take a deep breath through your nose; hold it for four seconds, then exhale. Continue this deep breathing for 15 to 30 seconds. Perform this simple exercise several times a day.
Short, frequent breaks are better than longer, less frequent breaks. Try 2-3 minutes every 15-20 minutes, 5 minutes every 30 minutes, or 10 minutes every hour.
Change your focus every 15-30 minutes. Look in another direction, or across the street, or change from looking at the computer and getting up for a drink.
To reduce glare, position your VDT so that neither you nor the screen faces a window. If necessary, use a hood or glare-reduction screen.
You can tire your eyes if you have to look frequently between two objects placed at different focus distances. If more than one close-up focus area is needed (when you are using printed reference material and a computer screen simultaneously), keep the viewed objects at the same distance and as close to each other as possible. This helps to reduce focusing changes.
To lessen strain on eye muscles, keep your VDT screen 18 to 28 inches from your eyes, and no higher than eye level when you’re seated in your chair.
Glare on walls and finished surfaces, as well as reflections on the computer screen can also cause computer eye strain. You may want to install an anti-glare screen on your monitor and, if possible, paint bright white walls a darker color with a matte finish.
Position the top of your computer monitor or TV screen at (or slightly below) eye level so you look downwards at it. This can help with dry eyes. More of the eye surface is covered by the eyelid when you look down, with the result that your eyes blink more and produce more lubrication.
Lack of sleep can make the eyes look red and puffy. Never put heavy night creams, moisturizers or nourishing facial masks round the delicate eye area. The oil contents of these heavy preparations stretch the fine skin and produce a puffy result. Beware, too, of letting astringent lotions, face packs or anti-spot lotions to come into contact with this area, as all of them contain drying ingredients which will cause wrinkling and ageing of the skin. Eye creams are always very light in texture. If you need to use an eye cream for dryness. then pat it in very carefully with the pad of your forefinger, keeping the touch delicate and light. Puffy eyes can sometimes be helped if you cleanse your whole system by drinking eight glasses of water a day.
Let your head driblet forward and throw the weight of your head on your hands so that the cervix musculuses are completely unwinded. Remain in this place for five to decade minutes. Repeat this several clips during the day. Another manner to go over relaxation of eyes is to lays the base of the thenar of your manus over your closed eyes and fourth estate gently and firmly. Repeat this again and again till there is total black.
