Air plane seats, how to get better seat?
Hello, I’m traveling from Frankfurt (Germany) to Toronto (Canada) with Air Canada and it will take 8 hours to get there. I wanted to ask, is it possible to ask for a better seat with bigger leg room? I’m 6 ft tall, 18 year old and i get huge leg pain while in log haul flight, my legs are starting to hurt after few hours, I get up and walk for a bit then the pain goes away, but whenever i get back to my seat the pain starts again. I can’t sleep on planes, not that I’m scared but I just cant sleep, I try to close my eyes but nothing is working. Last time I took 1 sleeping pill and I only slept for about 4 hours. Any suggestions?

If you’re in economy class, the only seats with significantly more legroom are the exit row seats. You normally need to check in very early to get those seats. You also will need to be physically able to assist the flight crew and other passengers in an emergency.
Severe pain in your legs can be a serious problem (DVT), the best thing to do is to get up more often if you’re not able to get an exit row seat. Sometimes the bulkhead seats or the front row of each cabin provide slightly more legroom.
