camping with incontinence?
i have incontinence i have no bladder control. i use abri form x plus adult nappies. i am due to go to the Great Dorset steam fair camping in a weeks time. i have camped many time before but never had to deal with the problem of incotinence. if im honest i dont know how i am going to manage as all changing will have to be done in tent or porta loo. also the question of hygine is a big worry. any help and advice would be much apreciated as i am starting to panic.
I would suggest bringing plenty of the nappies, baby wipes (or similar, I believe they have adult wipes that are the same thing, make sure they’re unscented), and bring plenty of ziplock bags or similar to store them in. If you change in the tent, change your nappies and keep them hidden in a ziplock bag (bring a few, add baking soda or similar to hide scent) in a brown bag so you can be discreet. Use the wipes to keep fresh and clean. If you are unable to change by yourself in the tent without fear of making a mess, bring a cheap towel/blanket/similar that you can put down over everything and stand on when you are changing that you can dispose of later. If you can, dispose of the nappies in a trash if they have a public trash area or pack them out when you go to leave. I don’t think you’re supposed to dispose of them in the porta loo. Just make sure you wrap them up in bags very well so you won’t have sanitation issues and they will stay contained. They have travel-sized wipes you can bring in your purse for use in the porta loo. Bring hand sanitizer also and anti-bacterial soap if you have a place to wash. Maybe talk to your doctor to see if they have any additional suggestions or have anything that can help you “go” less (i.e. what foods you should eat or avoid).
