gall bladder cancer stage 3b?
i would like to read about your stories. my dad and family was just told that he has gall bladder cancer stage 3b ( date 07052010). please give all info: date diagnosed, type of treatment, what stage of cancer, where went for treatment. thanks
JUSTIN H – I’m very sorry that your Dad has developed gallbladder (GB) cancer (adenocarcinoma?). Stage 3 means there is at least spread to the liver and maybe to nearby lymph nodes (glands).
Likely, your Dad will be referred to an oncologist MD to discuss treatment options, including length of remaining life. Sadly, the outlook is not good. Patients with GB carcinoma have an overall average survival rate of 6 months. No established treatment protocol (plan) exists. Radical surgery with negative tumor margins is an accepted treatment for advanced disease. If there are negative tumor margins, 5-year survival rate is 3%. Talk to the oncologist for further planning.
